The Purple Pub

The Purple Pub

Williamstown, MA

I have been to a lot a places that have called themselves "The Purple Pub". The first time I ever had a Shirley Temple was in a Purple Pub. Not this one.

One summer day, I had a nice trail run, technical but not gnarly. Part of it was because I had the right shoes on. I go for the low stack height big grip trail shoes as a rule (which is to my detriment in races longer than 25k but that is for another website) and they had served me well. My partner and I were talking about that and how she did not have the right shoes for some of the trips we were planning on taking. A little bit of Googling and a suggestion got us to Nature's Closet in Williamstown, MA where my partner was able to find the shoes that she needed (and loves). It was a good trip.

Then she saw the craft supply store.

My partner is wonderful. She is smart. She is kind. She is cute. She indulges me. She is also a crafter. I know. So she went to shop for crafting supplies and I went to amuse myself. I walked next door to the place that had the great adventure gear and there was a glorious patio and The Purple Pub.

First of all, I love college towns in the summer. It is the best of both worlds. Secondly, I love quiet yet beautiful places on lazy summer Saturday afternoons. Have I set the location for you? It was a fun place. There were all the drinks you would expect from a college town bar and some wonderful local and regional micro and pico brews on tap. The food was good too. I had a burger which hit the spot. L joined me eventually and she had one of the desserts, the Raspberry Sorbet on a Cookie, and loved it. A perfect lazy summer Saturday afternoon dessert.

Parking was available on the street. YMMV. Yes, there were families there. Some searching for colleges for their children. I believe a well behaved pupper was also there.

Great patio. Great vibe.
