Last year, I had a friend who was dying. He knew he was dying. I knew he was dying. We decided to get a meal together and BBQ was his favorite. We had decided on a different spot in Columbia County, a place that we had gone before with friends to celebrate a successful surgery but because of staffing issues, they were closed. It was a Sunday afternoon. We wanted to be able to sit outside. We wanted BBQ. I don't know if my friend mentioned that he had heard of this place before or after the Google search told us to try this place.

We drove to Jackson's and it is wonderful. It has a particular look. Picnic tables. Trays. Good local libations. House made BBQ. INCREDIBLE PICKLES! Ice cream! It is as if it was invented by people who like to get sweaty outside and then talk about how they got sweaty over food and drink. It is nearly perfect. It's also across the street from a library, if you are one of those people.

A month later a couple of us went to Art Omi for the day and it was my brilliant call to stop by Jackson's for lunch. I reached out to my friend and he was unable to make it. He was not up for it. He ended up passing a couple of weeks later.

Our meal at Jackson's in August of 2021 was the last meal we had together and it was lovely. It was unexpected and it was great.

I strongly suggest you go here, not just if you are in Columbia County but make a trip out of it. Have some great BBQ and some fabulous ice cream and marvel at how awesome it is to have great locations like this to share with the people we love!

Outdoor seating at picnic tables. Parking is in front of the storefront and was tight when we were there last. I don't know about the puppers but I am sure you can ask.
